President's Report November 2025

24th November 2025
By Michelle Jackson

A couple of weeks away to our last big social function of the year, the Gold Coast Bushwalking Club's annual Christmas party and a special one to top off our 50th year, over 120 booked already.

Please arrive between 10.00 -10.30 as speeches start at 11.00. You will need to collect your parking pass from the ladies at the front desk, and please bring food items  with utensils prepared as we don't have room in the kitchen to prepare them.  Please hand over to our kitchen staff, who will organize. Seating allocation needs to be sent to Kerry Hamilton on kezham@hotmail.com, this is to ensure you have a seat when you arrive. If you don't have a seat on a table it's no problem, we can organize that for you, so let Kerry know. Visitors need to pay $20.00 per head, please bring the correct money.
We had  an absolutely amazing selection of photos sent in for the photo competition, well over 100, so thanks to all those members who have sent in their photos, and  I must say it is very hard to decide, we have so many very professional photographers in our club, and these will be shown at the party.
CUT OFF FOR BOOKING IS 3RD DECEMBER ON MEMBERS JUNGLE, SORRY NO WALK INS, DUE TO CATERING AND SEATING ALLOCATION.
The club now has 349 members with new members joining all the time ,so the club is growing at a fast rate, and to introduce new members to the clubs activities, starting in the new year we will have a monthly new members' short easy walk, which will give an introduction to walking in the bush and also any information that a new member might need.
We will also be organising a social evening every alternate month to our general meetings.
This will give an opportunity for our members who are interested  to catch up for dinner, drinks and a chat. New members are encouraged to attend to introduce you to our wonderful club and the people that make it so.
Our next and last general meeting for the year will be on the 2nd of December, come along
and enjoy an entertaining talk on the outback trip to Birdsville and the town visited in between.

See you at the Christmas party
