President’s Report September 2025

Plans are underway for organising our last event for the year, our Club’s Christmas Party.  We have a “white” theme this year and because it’s our 50th year we will be awarding a 1st and 2nd prize for the photo competition.  The 6 categories this year will be ‘Scenery’, ‘All About The Light’, ‘Rainforest Magic’, ‘Bushies Being Bushies’, ‘Wildlife’ and ‘Birds’.  I know we have a lot of keen bird watchers so please get your photos ready for entry – details to come.

Nominations are still open for the Quickenden award, a long term member that you think is most deserving and has done a lot for the club, please send to our secretary, Anna at goldcoastbushwalkers@gmail.com

A reminder to register early for the Christmas Party as we have a cut-off date of the 3rd of December.

Because we had such a successful Pilgrimage, and made a good profit, we will be donating the proceeds of the raffle and also adding on a donation on behalf of our members to Lifeflight for $1000.00. This is such a worthy cause.  They have been in operation for over 40 years with emergency rescues, patient transfers, evacuations and other medical emergencies and they are available every day of the year. 

With the remaining proceeds from the Pilgrimage, we will be hosting a bushdance for our members next March1st 2026 with the Band o'Coots bush band.  We had such a lot of fun at the Pilgrimage, so this gives everyone a chance to come along and enjoy themselves.  It will be an afternoon function and the details will be posted on Member Jungle shortly.

A reminder about our next General Meeting on the 7th of October.  We have two interesting guest speakers, a speaker from Lifeflight and Chee, one of our members will give a talk about Beyond Tai Chi.  So come along and be entertained with his great sense of humour.
