President’s Report May 2025

29th May 2025
By Michelle Jackson

Our AGM is just around the corner and the nomination for the committee to ensure the club continues to prosper. We have a new leaders talk for our members who would like to learn what is involved in becoming a leader.

We will also show photos from the club's 50th anniversary celebrations, for those who were not able to make it on the day.

The committee visited the site at Beaudesert Showground, for the pilgrimage in August which our club is hosting and all agreed, it's a great location.

We have had a good response from our walk leaders, so a big thanks to them, without a great program , we can't have a great pilgrimage, but this one is shaping up to be a fabulous weekend.

We have a full program with 7 off tracks walks, 6 track walks and a bike ride, so plenty of choice, and we expect a very successful weekend, with clubs affiliated with Bushwalking Queensland attending.

Full details and registrations are now open in  Members jungle. Liz Tanner has kindly sourced accommodation in Beaudesert for those not wanting to camp, so get in early as limited spaces, details in the "News" section.

We still need volunteers to help over the weekend, so if you are coming please contact me.

For those that have never attended a pilgrimage, here is a great opportunity to attend, with Beaudesert being close by and supporting our club, it's a chance to meet fellow bushwalkers from all over. It's a great weekend, with a special bush  band on the Saturday night, lots of fun to be had.

Now that the crazy weather has calmed down, it's good to see our program with lots of activities to choose from, there are still a lot of tracks closed, but slowly the walking tracks  are getting back to normal.  We have a lot of new members who have joined recently, so please  make them welcome.

Enjoy your activities.
Michelle
