50th Anniversary Poem by Jean Watson

GOLD COAST BUSHWALKERS CLUB: 50TH ANNIVERSARY 2025

 

The wonderful Gold Coast Bushwalkers Club has been here for 50 years.

Thousands of people know its worth and send up endless cheers

For all it has meant to everyone in many different ways

And how we cannot say enough to express our praise.

A really dedicated committee working at its core,

We are privileged being a member - with 3,000 and more!

 

I wonder if our founders knew what the future would bring.

Did Elaine and Ron predict the scope of everything?

Could they foresee success ahead as they walked along the track?

Their unfailing dedication and planning, looking forward, never back,

Brought unparalleled success to them and benefits to us.

Together they achieved a miracle, with very little fuss.

 

Growing in size and influence, more people joining its ranks.

More and more activities were added.  We send our heartfelt thanks

To all the leaders, helpers and such who supported every event -

We are so very proud of you and applaud your good intent

50 years of absolute pleasure, on and off the track.

My heart belongs to all the Bushies.  I'm thrilled to be looking back

On walks and camps, parties and picnics - outings of every kind.

Best wishes to my dearest friends: you will always stay in my mind.
