PRESIDENTS REPORT MARCH 2025
3rd March 2025
By Michelle Jackson

After a nice trip away, I'm now back and ready for the finishing touches on organising our special event, the Gold Coast Bushwalking club's 50th anniversary on the 8th of March at the Canungra showground. For our members, all information is in Members Jungle. Please note you will have to sign in at the office when you arrive due to insurance for the showgrounds, parking will be in the centre of the arena, and we will have helpers to guide you. Arrive at 10 to allow enough time to get organised and set up your table and chair. We start at 11am. So far, we have 110 registered. The cut-off was the 1st of March, we can't take any late additions for this event.
We have a few special invited guest speakers attending, a special welcome, presentations, a BBQ lunch. Please bring a salad to share, and then the cutting of the cake with a glass of bubbly.
Plenty of time to catch up with friends, and some invited long-term past members have also been invited. Afterwards, it's more fun, with line dancing from 3.30 to 5.30 and those staying on can enjoy happy hour around a fire pit.
Thanks to those who have volunteered to help out on the day, we can still do with more help as we want this to be an extra special weekend.
We have 4 walks planned for Sunday, so thanks to those leaders and register early as one is already fully booked.
If you're camping, book and pay before the 1st of March as it's going to be a busy weekend.
We have a special presentation at the April general meeting on the 1st of April. Bob Fairless will present one of his trips, Pilliga Scrub and Arginbilly.
There are lots of activities in our walks program, so thanks to the leaders and coordinators, the club is growing all the time, with 358 members.
A special thanks to our hard-working committee. They are such a great group of members who are always willing to help out wherever possible, and always have the club's best interests at heart.
Enjoy your activities.
