President’s Report 19 June 2024
20th June 2024
By Michelle Jackson, President, Gold Coast Bushwalkers Club
A big weekend is coming up for our teams who are joining the Kokoda challenge this year,
it's a fundraising weekend so they can participate in the challenge, and pay for their entry along with thousands of other participants.
We have a team in both the 48km and 96 km challenge, there is an entry fee, and these funds have so far helped over 600 young people develop both physical and mental resilience, through the Kokoda Youth foundation.
If you would like to help with volunteering, please register through Members Jungle under events, it's a great way to give back, it can't be run without volunteers, and the added benefit is, your time helps others.
A sausage sizzle from 8 - 1, on both the Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd will be held at the 4WD Supacentre at Casua Drive, Varsity. So please come along and support Eileen and our teams.
Our forward program is looking wonderful with so many activities and some great camps and trips away to choose from, there is so much choice and it's easy to see why we are getting so many new members joining.
During our last committee meeting, we discussed the recent helicopter rescue at Mt Barney. The Gold Coast Bushwalkers have also had a few rescues over the years and without these emergency services , a lot of lives would have been at risk.
So we have decided to donate $500.00 to careflight on behalf of you, our members.
Enjoy your activities.
