Member Jungle Implementation update #3
14th December 2023
By Jeff Crane
Cutover Day +14
At the Christmas Party, Michelle encouraged everyone to download the app and log in to the system. Craig also helped members on the day. Member Jungle reports that 34% of members use the App, but I painstakingly reviewed all members and I could see at least 50% of members had attempted to log in to the system. Now my numbers will include members that logged into the website instead of the App. While either the website or the App can be used, I do encourage members who have a phone or tablet to download and use the App as it has one significant feature the website doesn't have - the ability to see who has registered for events.
If anyone is having difficulty installing the App please give me or Craig a call, so we can help you. Before calling us, if you are an Apple user, make sure you know your Apple-id and password.
Mobile phone numbers:
I have provided a link on the app menu to a list of members' names and phone numbers. I've also submitted a feature suggestion to MJ for inclusion of a member's mobile number on the Apps registered member display. I'm hoping it will be picked up and included in the 2024 development plan.
Event filters and download to the calendar
The MJ app doesn't include the event category filters and the option to download an event of interest into your personal calendar. Inclusion of these features in the app is not something I can correct in the short term. I will raise a feature suggestion to cover this as the functionality in the App should mirror the web functionality. In the meantime, I've added a button ("Event filter") to the App which will take you directly to the Event module on the website which contains the filter and the calendar option. So, if you want to see who is registered for activities, hit the "Event" button. If you want to filter activities and download an activity to your calendar, hit the "event filter" button.
Member Event registration
Members are already registering for events. Leaders need to keep an eye on their events in Member Jungle to see who has registered.
Leader Access
I've heard that many leaders are keen to get on the system to add events. I will be raising at the committee meeting next week a plan to expedite the authorisation of event management for leaders who are keen to add their own events. In the meantime, I recommend all leaders review the guide "GCBC - Entering Activity instructions". This can be found by clicking Library button -> Guides.
Event registration cancellation
When you register for an event, the registration button changes from "Register" to "Update Registration" and by clicking on this you can cancel by changing "who's coming" to "not attending". However, once the registration is closed, the "Update Registration" changes to "Registrations Closed" and you can no longer cancel your registration. So, at this point you will need to phone the leader to cancel your registration.
This may be a bug, or it may be a design flaw. I will raise it with Member Jungle because some events could be closed months in advance.

Note: Historically we talk about activities, while MJ refers to activities as events. In referencing the system, they mean the same thing. Old habits die hard.
