DW L T3 F3 Shipstern Circuit

This walk of 19kms offers spectacular views, a variety of forest types and 2 beautiful waterfalls. We descend from near Binna Burra Lodge for 5kms to Nixon’s Creek, stopping at 2 lookouts with views of Egg Rock, Ship's Stern and Hinze Dam.

On reaching Nixon’s Creek we detour to Lower Ballanjui Falls having morning tea at the base of these 170m falls. We then follow Nixon’s Creek for a while before starting a climb up through the palm trees till we move out of the rainforest to a dryer forest. On reaching the top of Ship's Stern we have lunch at Kooloonbaneo Lookout with views over Numinbah Valley and Turtle Rock. We then follow the clifftops with more views before heading west to the upper reaches of Nixon’s Creek. We pass Nagarigoon Falls, a red cedar tree & a small stand of Antarctic Beeches as we ascend to join the Border Track from where it is 2kms back to Binna Burra & afternoon tea. It is a long walk at a steady pace, so bring plenty of water & electrolytes.
