First Aid Training by Lifeflight
This is a really important course for all bushwalkers! Lifeflight, experts in emergency rescue, retrieval and protection are providing this course as part of their "First Minutes Matter" program. It has been adapted for us as bushwalkers to learn how we can provide first aid and prepare for rescue when necessary.
In just a few hours, participants learn practical hands-on skills such as CPR, snake bite and bleeding control, choking response and other life-saving first aid actions. Other bush survival skills will also be covered, such as heat illness, dehydration, ticks and leeches, anaphylaxis and epipens, what to carry in a first aid kit, use of PLBs and EPIRBs, emergency apps, first aid apps that do not rely on internet connection etc.
The program exists because in many emergencies, especially in regional and remote areas, bystanders are often the very first responders. Actions taken in those first few minutes can literally mean the difference between life and death.
Their hands-on emergency trauma training equips participants with practical skills to handle life-threatening situations.
Every second counts!
As the course runs from 10:30 to 16,:00, participants should bring their lunch.
Attendance is limited to 40 participants. If you are unable to register, contact Lis Manson, who will put you on a wait list.
