Easter camp at Gibraltar Range National Park (off-track)
This is an alternative option for experienced off-track walkers who might want something different to the club’s usual camp at Girraween over the Easter long weekend (which is also going ahead). The driving time from the Gold Coast to Gibraltar Range is about the same time it takes to get to Girraween.
We will base ourselves at Mulligans campground over the 4 day Easter long weekend. Book a site EARLY yourself through the NPWS website as there will be very limited spots available. It is cheaper if you share a site with someone else - a maximum of 6 adults / 2 vehicles per site are allowed. Arrive on Good Friday or earlier.
I will lead a walk each day from Friday to Monday, these will be decided when we are there, based on weather conditions. I’ll only take a small group as most will be a T6 F5 grade, involving rock scrambling up granite and bush bashing at a moderate pace. You are more than welcome to do your own walk separately or just spend time at the campground.
If the weather is warm at least one of my walks will be an off-track waterfall hike with some swims where a dry bag would be useful. We’ll try and do a sunset and a sunrise hike while we are there as well. We might even do a night walk to try and spot some wildlife, so bring a head torch.
There is no fuel anywhere at Gibraltar Range so fill up at Grafton or Jackadgery before you arrive at the campground, as some walks we will need to drive 20-30 minutes to reach the trailhead. There is also no mobile phone reception at the campground but you should get reception on some of the walks from certain high points.
Please only register as "Attending" once you have booked a campsite.
