DW S T3F3 Burringbar Mountain

This is a new walk in the Burringbar Range, Mooball National Park.  We begin at the entrance to the National Park, and walk on fire trail tracks, some of which are overgrown with grass in the middle, so long trousers are recommended.  It is mostly in shade, with beautiful trees and varied vegetation from tall gums to cycads and grass trees, palm trees, and some rainforest vegetation.  We walk on undulating tracks for a total distance of 9km.  The trail is out and back on two separate tracks, giving us some views across to Springbrook and the Cougals, and also walking along a ridgeline with views to the west.  We will have morning tea along the way.  There are no toilets, so we will make a brief stop in Murwillumbah on the way out.  After the walk is finished, we will drive to Burringbah, just a few kms away, where the Rail Trail meets the town and there are toilets, car parking, shade trees and tables for our lunch.  You can also purchase coffee, drinks and lunch food here.

The tracks are not hard to walk, so it's very suitable for fit new members.  Please bring plenty of water, and the usual essentials.

The turnoff to Cooradilla Road, which leads to Baranbali Road where the walk starts, is not signposted and is a short unsealed road which is a left turn off the Tweed Valley Way at the very top of the Burringbar Range, on a bend in the road.  Please put the address into your GPS if you are one of the drivers.
