Gold Coast Bushwalkers 50th Anniversary celebrations
Come along and enjoy a fun-filled weekend for all our members, stay for the day or camp for the weekend, to celebrate our club's 50th Anniversary, held at the Canungra showgrounds bush camping. Book directly, the showgrounds phone 55435904. Arrive on Saturday at 10am. It's a social day with time to set up, a special welcome, then a BBQ lunch around 12.30. The club will provide meat and a glass of bubbly. We ask if everyone can bring a salad or dessert to share. A few speeches and then, around 4pm, music and dancing. In the evening, its happy hour time around a fire pit, so bring nibbles to share. Sunday will be our activity day. There is more information to follow.
We have booked the main arena, with 42 powered sites. The cost is $37.50 for 2, or $35.00 for seniors and 8 unpowered sites, $15.00 per night in a tent. Please book asap to secure your spot. It's a requirement that all sites have to be booked and paid for beforehand by the 5th March book direct 5543 5904. If you don't pre-book and just come, there are another 100 sites available in other areas of the campground. If you're not camping, no need to book, but we will require registration on Members Jungle for catering purposes. The large covered pavilion is where we will have the BBQ, speeches and dancing. Facilities at the campground are 2 toilets and shower blocks, which cost $1.00 coin for a 3-minute shower, a camp kitchen, which includes BBQ'S, microwave, toaster and kettle and seating for around 60. You will need to BYO food and drink, bring chairs, a table, utensils and drinkware as well as a backpack if you're walking. For those not wanting to camp there is alternative accomodation in Canungra. Some ideas are Canungra Valley Getaway ph 0432330212, which sleeps 13 and the cost is $290.00 per night for 2, then $75.00 per person thereafter, and The Odd Gecko ph 0413115671, sleeps 8 for $200 + per night.

Shake off the Christmas lethargy, shed a few calories and escape the family by doing this walk through rainforest to view several beautiful waterfalls. At 12kms it is not a difficult walk and is suitable for fit new members. Carry plenty of water and leech repellant. Depending on the group's wishes, we may visit Tullawallal to see the Antarctic Beech. ...
