Base Camps

The Gold Coast Bushwalkers Club Inc continues to offer a diverse range of outdoor activities for its members. The Clubs base camps are extremely popular with the members. Base camp category include a diverse range of activities, including:

  • Through walking carrying a tent, food and water and sleeping in the bush.
  • Multi-day activities based at caravan parks, staying in cabins or your own caravan, motor home, camper trailer or tent
  • Interstate trips such as NSW beach walks, Vic High country walks, WA cape to cape walks
  • International trips such as NZ, England, Scotland, Wales, Europe and Japan.

1. Girraween Easter Camp                    

  • Location: Girraween National Park, Queensland
  • Description: Join fellow club members for an Easter camping extravaganza at Girraween National Park. Explore the unique granite landscapes, wildflower-filled meadows, and stunning rock formations. Don’t miss the chance to witness the sunrise from the famous Pyramid Peak. Activities include bushwalking, photography, and campfire storytelling.

2. Ballina Bike Camp

  • Location: Ballina, New South Wales
  • Description: Pedal your way through picturesque coastal scenery during the Ballina Bike Camp. Cycle along the scenic coastline, explore charming villages, and enjoy picnic lunches. The camp includes invigorating rides, friendly happy hours and option dinners at local venues.

3. Noosa Everglade Kayaking Adventure

  • Location: Noosa Everglades, Queensland
  • Description: Paddle through the serene waterways of the Noosa Everglades during this kayaking adventure. Discover hidden mangroves, spot wildlife, and camp under the star-studded sky. The Noosa Everglades are a unique ecosystem, and this camp offers an unforgettable experience.

4. Bushwalking QLD Annual Pilgrimage

  • Locations: Various stunning locations across SE Queensland
  • Description: The annual pilgrimage brings together bushwalkers from all over Queensland. Explore diverse landscapes, from rainforests to rugged mountains. Each year, the pilgrimage takes place in a different location, ensuring fresh experiences and camaraderie among members.

5. Christmas in July Base Camp at Bigriggen

  • Location: Bigriggen Park, Queensland
  • Description: Celebrate Christmas in July with a festive base camp at Bigriggen. Enjoy campfire feasts, holiday-themed hikes, and perhaps even a visit from a bushwalking Santa. Don’t forget your Santa hat and warm cocoa!

6. Multi-Day Interstate Walking Holidays

  • Locations: Victorian High Country, Great Ocean Road, and the Grampians
  • Description: Embark on epic multi-day walking holidays beyond Queensland. Explore the rugged beauty of the Victorian High Country, marvel at the coastal vistas along the Great Ocean Road, and conquer challenging trails in the Grampians.
